EPW - Morris Tobias & Co, Liverpool & London, verge fusee with calendar, 56mm, silver OF original pair cases bearing London hallmarks for 1805, incuse "W M" marking below star for casemaker William Mean, white enamel dial, KWKS, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled balance cock with grotesque mask at its neck, originally with gilt locking dust-cap which is no longer present, s#3595.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, stopped occasionally when handling, good calendar function, overhaul recommended, mvt was originally with a gilt locking dust-cap which is no longer present, otherwise fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered fine scratches; dial with perimeter fractures and associated chipping between 3 and 5 with sections of this area appearing to have been secured with glue, hl between 10 and 12, edge chip near 1, scattered scratches; excellent hands; outer case shows light wear, a dark patina, dent at center rear, button latch with good function but surface of button is broken off, case closes with some gap along its upper portion; inner case shows light wear, dent to center rear, bezel of inner case not snapping shut; bow with fractured upper portion, separated segments pivot freely; domed glass bull's-eye crystal with few scratches.

BIDDING ISSUE NOTE: When placing a bid, please note that EVEN IF the bid is accepted, it does not necessarily mean you are now the high bidder. (Another bidder may have previously bid higher than your current bid, so he/she is the high bidder.) The box will turn green if you are the winning bidder or red if you are not the winning bidder.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a cap of $10,000 on each bid. If you wish to place a bid over $10,000 on an item, please contact us more than 24 hours in advance of the auction's end time.
LAST MINUTE BIDDERS: Take advantage of the special "Live Catalog" feature that becomes available 30 minutes before the first lot closes. (See our How to Bid page at www.jones-horan.com for more explanation.) ALSO, please be aware that this bidding system is not as responsive as some other online auction forums with which you may already be familiar. The Jones & Horan plain English grading system follows this general order from top to bottom for mvts, component parts, metal dials, and hands: Pristine (without defect, untouched) | Mint | Nearly Mint | Excellent | Fine (the average grade for most used, running watches) | Fair | Poor. We no longer use "good" as a grade as it can be misleading, so it only applies to function (see below). We then describe any salient defects that should be called to the attention of the potential buyer.
With respect to wear, we also use the following terms in order: No wear | Hardly any wear | Very little wear | Little wear | Very light wear | Light wear | Medium wear | Ample wear | Substantial or abundant wear | Worn out. These general terms are used in combination with precise descriptions of defects for further elaboration where needed.
Enamel dials are not necessarily graded, but called "flawless" when free of cracks, chips or hairlines, which are structural and always noted. Surface defects such as scratches, discoloration or graphical defects may be present on a flawless dial, and are noted separately.
The term, "Good," is only used alone to indicate that the watch or its function is doing what it should be doing, as in "good running order, good repeat function and tone, good chronograph and date functions," etc. These functions are not rated or graded. "Good crystal" means without meaningful defect, as does "Good dial."
"Running" only means that the balance and escapement are performing in healthy fashion and without apparent defect, but does not guarantee timekeeping or warrantee future performance; unless otherwise noted, our timepieces are not serviced by us, and we do not know when they were last serviced from our sources. We do our best to indicate any potential problems or needs for repair.

We are not set up to accept credit cards directly, despite the fact that the "Payment Methods" tab would seem to indicate so. That is a page that is "an overall Hibid account setting" and cannot be removed, according to the programmers. Hibid is the company that hosts our auctions on their website. If you add credit card information to place it "on file" with HiBid, that information does not transfer to our software after the auction.

All packages are insured. Items will be shipped to the address on your invoice unless you request otherwise by phone or email before making payment.
FREE via USPS Priority Mail for Domestic Customers for packages valued less than $300. We will require a signature for all packages $200 and up unless you request otherwise before making payment. IF YOUR PURCHASE IS UNDER $300 AND YOU DO NOT WANT ITEMS SHIPPED VIA USPS, PLEASE NOTIFY US BEFORE MAKING PAYMENT. OTHER SHIPPING METHODS MAY REQUIRE AN ADDITIONAL FEE.
FREE via FedEx Express* for Domestic Customers where the value of the package is $300 or more. IF YOUR PURCHASE MEETS OR EXCEEDS $1,000 AND YOU DO NOT WANT ITEMS SHIPPED VIA FEDEX, PLEASE NOTIFY US WHEN MAKING PAYMENT.
Domestic customers: If you desire faster delivery, please notify us immediately. For a fee covering the additional shipping cost, we can arrange FedEx overnight shipping, and even Saturday delivery.
International Customers: Feel free to contact us for a quote on shipping charges. Shipping charges will be included on the emailed invoice to all international customers unless an address in the US is provided. We will ship all packages valued under $1,000 via USPS Priority Mail in our own boxes. IF YOU DO NOT WANT PACKAGES (under $1,000) SHIPPED VIA FEDEX, PLEASE NOTIFY US BEFORE MAKING PAYMENT. Where the value is $1,000 or more, we will ship via FedEx International. IF YOU DO NOT WANT PACKAGES ($1,000 or more) SHIPPED VIA FEDEX, PLEASE NOTIFY US BEFORE MAKING PAYMENT. We have found FedEx to be the most reliable and safe method to ship items and get them through customs. PLEASE NOTE: We will not change values on customs documents. Any statements generated by Jones & Horan will reflect the values achieved at the auction. ALSO, DHL is available, but is more costly than FedEx. Please contact us before making payment if you wish us to ship via DHL.
*PLEASE NOTE that we always use FedEx 2nd day Express, but during the holiday season (end of November and throughout December), FedEx does not guarantee two-day delivery. In fact, during that time period, FedEx sometimes delivers a day early!
